Turkey registers 25 more COVID-19 deaths, number of cases reaches 163,942

Turkey’s confirmed cases of COVID-19 increased by 839 in a single day, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 163,942, while 25 more people died of the disease over the past 24 hours, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca on Sunday.

The COVID-19 death toll reached 4,540, the minister tweeted.

A total of 989 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, the chart indicated.

Turkey conducted 35,600 tests for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall number of tests carried out so far to 2,039,194.

The chart showed that 127,973 people have recovered in Turkey since the start of the outbreak, while 648 patients are in intensive care, 287 of whom are on respirators.

Turkey reported its first COVID-19 case on March 11.
