Housing sales in Turkey declined 55.5 percent in April compared to the same month last year, the Diken news website reported on Friday, citing the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
A total of 42,783 houses were sold in April, according to TurkStat.
Properties purchased with a mortgage represented 39.9 percent of the sales, with 17,088 houses.
İstanbul led among provinces with 6,113 houses, followed by Ankara with 4,500 and İzmir with 2,533. İstanbul accounted for 14.3 percent of the sales.
On the other hand, TurkStat data showed an 8.9 percent year-on-year increase in terms of sales between January and April, with a total of 383,821 houses sold.
