2 Turkish soldiers killed in clash with PKK in SE Turkey

Two Turkish soldiers were killed in a clash with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the southeastern Turkish province of Bitlis, according to a statement from the Turkish Interior Ministry.

The statement said four gendarmes were also injured in the clash, which took place in the Sehi neighborhood of Bitlis.

The PKK is designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. Some 40,000 people have been killed in the fight between Turkish forces and the PKK since 1984, when the PKK took up arms.
