Two 94-year-old women recover from COVID-19 in Turkey: report

Two 94-year-old Turkish women successfully recovered after contracting the deadly coronavirus, which has claimed thousands of lives worldwide, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

According to doctors, elderly people with chronic diseases are in the highest risk group, and most of the time they are unable to recover from COVID-19.

Turkey currently has 120,204 coronavirus cases, while the death toll in the country stands at 3,174, and a total of 48,886 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovering from the virus.

Safiye Aybar and Rabia Türkkan are residents of the northwestern Sakarya province.

Aybar and Türkkan, who became ill at Hendek Melek Nişancı Nursing Home on April 11 and were diagnosed with coronavirus, started receiving treatment immediately.

After successfully completing treatment, Aybar and Türkkan were discharged from the hospital amid applause and sent by ambulance to the nursing home.

Since first appearing China last December, the novel coronavirus has spread to at least 185 countries and regions, with the US and Europe the hardest-hit areas.
