Turkey’s health minister late on Tuesday announced the first death in the country related to the new coronavirus outbreak, adding that the number of cases had increased to 98.
Fahrettin Koca told reporters in an unscheduled press conference that the late patient was an 89-year-old businessman. He was infected by an employee who had recently returned from China.
First seen in the Chinese city of Wuhan, COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus, has spread rapidly around the world, infecting more than 190,000 people worldwide and killing nearly 7,500.
