Russia on Wednesday accused Turkey of helping foreign fighters cross into Libya, the Interfax news agency reported, according to Reuters.

Interfax cited Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov as making the allegation.

Turkey has been supporting the UN-recognized Tripoli government fighting against the forces of Gen. Khalifa Haftar, who controls the southern regions of the war-torn country.

The Turkish president has repeatedly accused Moscow of deploying mercenaries to help Haftar’s forces.
