Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MİT) received more than 40,000 criminal notices from various countries in 2019, with 2,286 in English, 1,427 in Arabic and 1,020 in Russian, according to the state-run Anadolu news agency.

The majority of the notices concerned terrorist groups, the report said.

On the MİT website is a service called “How can we help you?” through which anonymous tips and notices are forwarded to intelligence officers.

Among the messages received, only half were cataloged and distributed to the relevant units, according to the report.

On Dec. 12, MİT posted a warning on the webpage saying that false notices would be subject to criminal investigation, following which the number of notices dropped.
