Turkey deported four extremists of French nationality to France on Tuesday, the Interior Ministry announced, according to the state-run Anadolu news agency.

They were deported as part of Turkey’s ramped-up efforts to repatriate foreign fighters, the ministry said in a written statement.

Ankara said several European countries have resisted its efforts to send extremists back to their countries of citizenship.

Turkey deported almost 780 foreign fighters in 2019, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said at the end of the year.
