According to a written statement released by the Security Directorate of Erbil city, where the shooting took place, alleged assailant Mazlum Dağ, who was identified two days ago, has been detained by the police.
The statement also said that search efforts were ongoing for others involved in the attack.
Later in the day Iraqi officials said in another statement that Dijvar Mamend Yusuf, codenamed Muhammed Bisksiz, who allegedly helped Dağ, was also arrested.
On Wednesday Osman Köse, who was serving at Turkey’s Consulate General in Erbil, was assassinated in an armed attack at a restaurant. Two Iraqi nationals were also killed by the gunman.
