3 killed in possible terrorist attack against Syrians in Turkey’s Southeast

At least three people were killed after a vehicle exploded Friday in southeastern Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, adding that initial reports indicated it was a terrorist attack.

“It is obvious that the car was equipped with a bomb,” Erdoğan said in İstanbul after Friday prayer, according to the state-run Anadolu news agency.

The explosion in Reyhanlı, Hatay province, claimed three lives, all Syrian nationals, the president said, citing Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.

Earlier, the province’s governor, Rahmi Doğan, told Anadolu that the cause of the blast had not yet been determined.

A large number of ambulances and police were dispatched to the scene immediately after the explosion.
