The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) has released the February unemployment figures, which remained at the peak level of 14.7 percent recorded in January, the Evrensel daily reported on Wednesday.
The number of jobless aged 15 and above rose by some 1.4 million to reach 4.7 million year-on-year.
Unemployment among young people, specifically those aged between 15 and 24, showed a surge of 7.1 percentage points over the same period and increased to 26.1 percent.
Non-agricultural unemployment stood at 16.9 percent, increasing 4.4 percentage points compared to a year ago.
A decrease of some 811,000 was seen in the number of employed, 514,000 of whom were in non-agricultural sectors.
