Celebrities voice support for İmamoğlu after İstanbul election results canceled

The slogan "Everything is going to be OK," is derived from famous Turkish comedian Cem Yılmaz's movie, with the same title. Yılmaz also joined the chorus of support for Ekrem İmamoğlu, posting an image from his movie.

A number of Turkish celebrities posted messages on social media in support of opposition nominee Ekrem İmamoğlu after Turkey’s national election authority canceled the results of the İstanbul mayoral election.

Several popular singers, actors, filmmakers and comedians tweeted messages with the hashtag #herşeyçokgüzelolacak, meaning “Everything is going to be OK.”

The posts came after İmamoğlu’s call on everyone to speak up in the country’s political debate.

Turkey’s Supreme Election Board (YSK) on Monday canceled the results of the İstanbul mayoral election, held on March 31 and won by İmamoğlu, from the ranks of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP).

The YSK made its decision upon a series of objections filed by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), revoking İmamoğlu’s mandate and forcing him to step down immediately.
