Mehmet Özhaseki, the candidate for mayor of Ankara from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), said in an interview that he would face his major rival Mansur Yavaş in a televised debate if leader of the party and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan allows him to do so.

Speaking to the Gazeteduvar new website on Tuesday, the former mayor of the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri and current candidate for mayor of Ankara said, “If Mr. Erdoğan allows it, I’d like to debate him,” in reference to Yavaş.

Özhaseki last week claimed that in the event Yavaş wins the office of mayor of Ankara, terrorist organization militants would be employed in municipal jobs.
