Turkish security forces have detained 1,956 people in the last three months over alleged links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the Diken news website reported, based on figures compiled by the state-run Anadolu news agency.
Three hundred seventeen of the suspects were arrested.
A total of 183 alleged PKK members were killed in military operations, while three security force members died.
The agency claimed that high-level PKK members were among those killed or arrested.
The PKK launched an armed insurgency in Turkey’s predominantly Kurdish Southeast in the 80s, which so far has claimed the lives of over 40,000 people.
The group is designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
