The Turkish Foreign Ministry has announced that almost 5 million Turks are living in 152 countries around the world, the Sözcü daily reported on Wednesday.
According to the statement, which came after an opposition deputy posed a question in parliament, Germany has the largest Turkish population with nearly 2 million.
Germany was followed by the France with 700,000 and the Netherlands with 500,000 Turks.
The statement indicated there was no official information about Turks living in Armenia, Paraguay, Ecuador, El Salvador, Nigeria, Cape Verde, San Marino, Bolivia, Syria, Monaco, North Korea, Liberia, Belize, Iceland, Canary Islands, Jamaica, Honduras, Greek Cyprus, Barbados, Andorra, Taiwan, Togo and Uruguay.
