Popular Turkish rappers Server Uraz and Volkan Ayvazoğlu have been sentenced to four years, two months in prison for allegedly promoting and facilitating drug use in some of their songs.
The verdict was announced by Uraz, who tweeted on Wednesday: “We just came out of the hearing. I was sentenced to four years, two months along with Volkan Ayvazoğlu. We have been released pending appeal, but we’ll go to jail if the verdict is upheld.”
Another Turkish rapper, Ezhel, was detained in May 2018 on the same charges but was acquitted at the first hearing of his trial in June.
