Popular search engine Google announced its annual national and global search statistics in which Turkey’s most searched word has been “dollar,” the Habertürk newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Dollar was followed by “family tree” and “World Cup” in the general category, while other categories included recipes, names and TV series.
Turkey’s economy was shaken by a currency crisis in 2018 during which the value of the Turkish lira against the dollar slumped 28 percent, but has rebounded from record lows in August when it was as much as 47 percent weaker against the US currency.
The lira crisis sent annual inflation to more than 25 percent in October, its highest rate in 15 years, before easing in November.
