Chairman of the ultranationalist Homeland Party (VP) Doğu Perinçek has said delegations from Turkey and Syria met six times recently at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s request.

Perinçek told Sputnik news that he confirmed the meetings with Turkish sources.

The dialogue between the two countries has been frozen since the beginning of the civil war in Syria as Turkey supports opposition forces in the conflict.

Perinçek said there is also military cooperation between Turkey and Syria regarding the Turkish military’s cross-border operations in the neighboring country.
