Must read

Following the murder of İYİ (Good) Party official Mehmet Sıddık Durmaz at a polling station in Erzurum province in a blood feud fight, his brother Savaş Durmaz was killed on Monday on his way from İstanbul to Erzurum to claim brother’s body.

In addition to Mehmet Sıddık Durmaz, Agit Yazan from the other family was killed during the exchange of fire between family members.

Early Monday morning Savaş Durmaz was killed at a way station in Erzincan, near Erzurum, by a member of the Yazan family whose name was not disclosed.

According to an İYİ Party statement, the Yazan family had killed Mehmet Sıddık Durmaz’s father four years ago, sparking a blood feud that has continued since then.

The tension was high on election day due to the polarization among society.

Also in Şanlıurfa, two different fights between voters from opposing views erupted on Sunday, leaving five hospitalized.

In Kocaeli and İstanbul, voters supporting different parties had a fight over irregularities during the voting process. Police had intervened in both cases.

Tens of thousands of police officers were on duty on Sunday to check polling stations regularly.
