A private dormitory in Samsun’s Çarşamba district that belonged to the Gülen movement until it was seized by the government has been transferred to the Istanbul-based, pro-government Women and Democracy Association (KADEM).
According to local media, the dormitory building in Çarşamba’s Sungurlu neighborhood was transferred to KADEM following the approval of the Finance Ministry on Nov 13, 2017.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s daughter, Sümeyye Erdoğan, is the one of the deputy chairs of KADEM.
Hundreds of schools, dormitories and foundations linked to the Gülen movement were closed down by the government in the aftermath of a coup attempt on July 15, 2016 as the government accuses the movement of masterminding the failed coup.
The movement denies any involvement. (Turkey Purge)
