Turkey criticizes US decision to move embassy to Jerusalem in May

Must read

Turkey on Saturday criticized an announcement by the United States that it would move its embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in May, saying it “reveals that the U.S. insists on undermining the foundations of peace by disregarding … international law, [the] resolutions of United Nations Security Council on Jerusalem and the established UN parameters.”

“Unfortunately, the US exhibits that it does not hear, and worse still, does not care about the voice of [the] international community’s conscience, as reflected in the Final [Communiqué] of [the] OIC Extraordinary Summit in İstanbul and subsequently the resolution of  [the] UN General Assembly,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry in a statement posted on its website on Saturday.

“In response to this highly worrisome decision of the United States, Turkey will [maintain] its efforts, together with the vast majority of [the] international community, to safeguard the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people,” the ministry added.
