Turkey has completed construction of half of a 144-kilometer-long wall along its border with Iran in order to stop illegal crossings, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported on Saturday.

Ergün Turan, chairman of the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKI), said they would complete the rest of the wall in the first half of 2018.

Fifteen border gates will also be built along the wall, a three-meter-high barrier with portable blocks.

TOKİ also constructed a 688-kilometer-long wall on the border between Turkey and Syria.
