Turkey hopes to see the detention of princes, ministers and former ministers in a probe in Saudi Arabia serve the internal peace of the country.
“We hope it will be a process serving the internal peace of Saudi Arabia,” said İbrahim Kalın, spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking to NTV on Sunday.
Saudi Arabia detained 11 princes, four current ministers and tens of former ministers in a probe launched by a new anti-corruption body headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya reported.
“They are trying to take steps for a change of mentality. On the other hand, some regulations are being made for the new king and for those after him. They have a vision of 2030, too,” said Kalın, explaining the recent events in Saudi Arabia.
Kalın also made reference to a Yemeni missile attack targeting Riyadh last night: “They [Saudis] said they intercepted the missile in the sky. Others say it hit the ground. Our friends are trying to confirm.”
