Turkish police on Wednesday killed an Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) suicide bomber as he was planning to attack a police station in Mersin province, the Milliyet daily reported.
The Interior Ministry announced that the suicide bomber was an ISIL member.
The Mersin Governor’s Office issued a statement and said the terrorist was shot dead by police just as he was about to detonate the bomb.
The suicide bomber, who had been in Mersin for a year with his parents, was revealed to be a 20-year-old Syrian man living in an apartment building 100 meters from the police station. Police raided the house of the ISIL militant and detained his father.
