Turkish police detained five suspected members of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the northern Turkish province of Samsun upon receiving information that seven ISIL members had bought a ticket to İstanbul where they were to carry out an operation, TGRT Haber reported on Wednesday.

A statement from the Samsun Governor’s Office said the identities and addresses of the suspects were determined and that five members were detained after the Samsun Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued detention warrants upon hearing the testimony of an informant, who said seven ISIL members were planning an operation in İstanbul.

Police are continuing operations to apprehend the other two suspected ISIL members.
