A total of 34 women and 17 children were killed by men in Turkey during the month of July, Gazete Şûjin reported on Thursday.
According to the report, 37 women in January, 30 women in February, 35 women in March, 31 women in April, 39 women in May, 36 women in June and 34 women in July were killed by men.
During the first seven months of 2017, at least 242 women were killed by men.
Of all women who died in July, 56 percent of them were murdered by men they knew, while the death of 35 percent was suspicious.
Three percent of women were killed by men they did not know, two women lost their lives due to labor-related accidents and nine women were wounded as a result of labor-related accidents.
During July, 32 children were victims of sexual abuse and 17 were killed.
Women’s rights organizations have for years been trying to raise awareness about the rise in violence against women that has taken place in the last decade.
According to local reports, between 2003 and 2010 there had been a 1,400 percent increase.
