The driver of a truck who dumped manure near the Republican People’s Party’s (CHP) “March of Justice” camp in the northwestern province of Düzce on Tuesday was detained on Wednesday along with two of his friends.

In addition, a fine of TL 3,000 was imposed on the driver.

According to the HaberTürk daily website, the truck dumped the manure on a road in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood where CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and CHP supporters had set up camp as part of the March of Justice, which was initiated by Kılıçdaroğlu on June 16 in response to the arrest of CHP İstanbul deputy Enis Berberoğlu.

The Düzce Fire Department cleared the road after CHP deputies and supporters participating in the march contacted local authorities, calling it a provocative action.

Kılıçdaroğlu started the march in Ankara on June 16 in protest of the arrest of CHP deputy Berberoğlu, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison last week for leaking information for a report on National Intelligence Organization (MİT) trucks transporting weapons to jihadists in Syria.

The march, which began in Ankara, will last for 25 days and end at Maltepe Prison, where Berberoğlu is jailed.
