Meral Akşener, former Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) deputy and leadership candidate, has said that after consulting several thousand people she had decided to establish a new political party, the t24 news website reported on Sunday.

“The conclusion of one-on-one consultations with 2,000 people whose ideas I care deeply about is that I should start a new party,” said Akşener at a dinner hosted by the Yeniçağ daily.

Akşener was expelled from the MHP in September 2016 by unanimous vote.
