Berdan Öztürk, a deputy from the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), was detained at İstanbul’s Atatürk Airport in the early hours of Friday upon his return from a visit to London.
Öztürk was reportedly detained due to a detention warrant issued for him by the Ağrı 1st High Criminal Court.
The deputy was taken to the Bakırköy Courthouse to give testimony.
There are currently 10 HDP deputies who are behind bars including the party’s Co-chairpersons Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ.
