Turkey on Tuesday declared that 556 kilometer (345,4 miles) wall on border with Syria was completed.
According to a statement by Turkish Defense Ministry, the three meters high and two meters wide concrete wall whose construction began last year was completed and will help security units to stop illegal crossings over its 900-kilometer (559 miles) border with Syria.
Turkey has long been criticized for its porous border with Syria, which allegedly enabled extremists and terrorists to cross to and from Syria relatively freely.
The wall will reportedly be the third largest of its kind in the world.
Since the beginning of the civil war in Syria, Turkey has opened its border gates to Syrians as part of its policy aimed at toppling President Bashar al Assad.
