Must read

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday that the Russian chargé d’affairs was summoned to express unease over the presence of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) in northern Syria following the killing of a Turkish soldier in PYD gunfire on Wednesday.

Russian forces are deployed in the area, and Russian commanders were recently seen wearing YPG armbands during Newroz celebrations in the region.

Spokesman for the ministry Hüseyin Müftüoğlu said Turkey expects Russia to take steps regarding the closure of the armed wing of the PYD, the People’s Protection Units (YPG), office in Moscow.
