The European Parliament has reportedly banned the free distribution of the staunchly pro-Erdoğan Daily Sabah newspaper on its premises.
A journalist named Marc Guillet announced the decision on Wednesday night on his Twitter account, stating that EP Chairman Antonio Tajani made the decision.
EU observers call the decision rare as it bans a media outlet in an official union institution.
On March 20 President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan publicly criticized Europe for a possible ban on the paper.
Erdoğan and his media have stepped up anti-Western and anti-Europe rhetoric, directing accusations of Nazism to the Dutch and Germans in particular.
