Aide says if Erdoğan is harmed, nobody in world will be able to enjoy even a breakfast

Yiğit Bulut

A chief aide to the Turkish president said if any harm is done to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, nobody in any part of the world will be able to enjoy even a breakfast.

Yiğit Bulut, in a veiled threat against elusive enemies, said on Wednesday night on state television that if Erdoğan, who according to him made Turkey and the ummah’s rise possible, is harmed, nobody in any part of the world will be able to enjoy even a breakfast for the next hundred years.

“If even a single hair of Erdoğan is harmed, nobody in any region will be able to enjoy even a breakfast,” Bulut said in remarks with a heavily nationalist tone. Bulut, who has a secular background, kept claiming that the ummah and the nation have become stronger again under Erdoğan’s leadership.

Yesterday, Erdoğan himself said Europeans will not be able to safely walk on the streets if they persist in their attitude against Turkey.

Speaking during a meeting of the Anatolian Publishers Association in Ankara on Wednesday, Erdoğan said, “Turkey is not a country you can push around, not a country whose citizens you can drag on the ground.”

He was referring to Dutch police who forcefully dispersed Turkish demonstrators in Rotterdam on March 11 following the expulsion from the country of Turkish Minister of Family and Social Policy Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya after she was prevented from holding a campaign rally at the Turkish Consulate General residence in Rotterdam.

“If Europe continues this way, no European in any part of the world can safely walk on the streets. Europe will be damaged by this. We, as Turkey, call on Europe to respect human rights and democracy,” he said.

Turkey’s relations with various European countries have recently become strained due to the cancellation of rallies planned to be attended by Turkish ministers in order to seek the support of Turkish expatriates for a referendum in Turkey on April 16 that will expand Erdoğan’s powers and change Turkey into an executive presidency.

Erdoğan’s advisor Bulut earlier had claimed that Turkey had developed missiles that have the capability of striking any country within the European Union.

A former critic of Erdoğan, Bulut is a strong believer in conspiracy theories and is known for his anti-Western and anti-European rhetoric.

Bulut frequently appears on television shows and talks about how Turkey is resisting Western efforts to undermine it thanks to President Erdoğan.

In December, Bulut claimed on live TV that foreign chefs who host cooking shows are spying on Turkey.

“Please don’t think I’m exaggerating or that this is a conspiracy theory,” Bulut said on a program aired by the staunchly pro-government TV station A Haber.

Bulut argued that foreign chefs who travel around Anatolia for cooking shows are actually gathering information about Turkey. He further said “gullible” Turkish villagers host these foreign chefs and show them around, urging the Turkish nation not to be fooled by their spying activities.
