HDP deputy Taşdemir detained in Ağrı province

Must read

A deputy from the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Dilan Dirayet Taşdemir, was detained on Monday in her house in Ağrı’s Doğubeyazıt district in eastern Turkey.

A statement released by HDP headquarters announced the news of Taşdemir’s detention, saying, “We don’t accept it, we don’t bow our heads and we don’t remain silent.”

Turkey has stepped up political pressure on Kurdish politicians in recent months. Dozens of Kurdish politicians including 13 HDP deputies have been arrested on terror charges, while trustees have been appointed to the management of scores of municipalities run by pro-Kurdish mayors.
