The pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has launched a criminal complaint against Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu due to recent remarks about jailed HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş.
Speaking at a meeting in Erzurum last week, Soylu referred to Demirtaş as “the man of straw called Demirtaş” and said he was calling on people to take to the streets so that people kill each other.
The HDP accused Soylu of using remarks that incite hatred and enmity among the people.
Demirtaş has been behind bars along with 12 other HDP deputies since November on terror charges.
