The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) said in a statement on Tuesday that one soldier was killed and two others were wounded in Syria’s al-Bab region during work to clear homemade explosives planted by Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists.
As part of Operation Euphrates Shield, Turkey sent tanks across the border to help Syrian rebels drive ISIL from the border city of Jarabulus in late August, in a dramatic escalation of its involvement in the Syrian civil war.
The number of Turkish soldiers killed during Operation Euphrates Shield has reached 74 with the latest loss.
