Istanbul Governor’s Office bans hunting rifles resembling assault weapons

Carrying hunting rifles that resemble automatic assault rifles has been banned during an ongoing state of emergency in Turkey, the Istanbul Governor’s Office announced on Friday.

In its statement the office underlined that some hunting rifles which have similar features to M-16, AK-47 and G-3 automatic rifles pose the risk of misunderstanding and threats to security.

Previously, the Hatay Governor’s Office had imposed a similar ban on hunting rifles during the state of emergency.
