Must read

A newly proposed center under Turkey’s Foreign Ministry that will comprise staff from the Ministry of Defense, the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) and the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) will analyze news stories abroad to fight against anti-government propaganda.

According to a bill proposed by ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) İstanbul deputy Metin Külünk, the Foreign Ministry will establish the Center for Information Analysis and Combat, which will also aim to counter foreign propaganda and disinformation against the Turkish government by the foreign media and critical media abroad.

Led by the undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry, the center will coordinate other state institutions in the “information warfare” against other countries and threats emanating from them.

The centers will analyze views, information, data, reports and intelligence from foreign governments, think tanks, media, academic establishments and nongovernmental organizations abroad and report to the government in an effort to counter them.
