YSK official suspended after controversial message about Kılıçdaroğlu

A local Supreme Election Board (YSK) official in the southeastern province of Malatya has been suspended from his job after posting a controversial message on social media concerning Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

YSK Malatya provincial head Gürsel Dursun came to public attention last week with a message on Facebook in which he announced that he would vote “yes” in a referendum in which constitutional amendments introducing an executive presidency in Turkey will be put to a vote.

“I say ‘yes’ for the head of Kılıçdaroğlu,” Dursun wrote in the controversial message.

After receiving criticism due to the message, Dursun denied having written it and said it was his son who wrote the controversial remarks.

However, he has been suspended from his post as part of an investigation launched by the YSK.
