Indictment seeks life sentence for Gülen’s nephew

Must read

An indictment prepared by an İzmir prosecutor seeks an aggravated life sentence for Mehmet Mezher Gülen, a nephew of Turkish scholar Fethullah Gülen, who the government  accused of masterminding a July 15 coup attempt.

The indictment also seeks up to 15 years in jail for each of 13 people who were detained along with Mezher Gülen on May 17. Several other of Gülen’s relatives were also detained and subsequently arrested after July 15.

While the scholar denies any involvement, his nephew and other suspects are accused of leading and membership in a terrorist organization. (Turkey Purge)
