Suspected ISIL courier detained in Şanlıurfa

A man suspected of working as a courier for the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) for its suicide attacks has been detained in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa.

The man, identified as Abud Mahho, was detained by police teams from the Şanlıurfa Police Department on Wednesday.

Police teams also seized materials used in bomb making during a search in the Akçakale district on the Syrian border based on the statements of the suspect.

The seized materials were similar to those used in ISIL attacks in İstanbul, Ankara and Gaziantep, according to police sources.

Since July 2015, Turkey has been hit by many ISIL attacks, which claimed the lives of scores of people.
