Sultan Eylem Keleş, a journalism student at İzmir’s Ege University, was detained over links to terror organizations while she was leaving school on Monday.
Keleş was also a former reporter for JINHA, a pro-Kurdish news agency that was closed down by the government under post-coup emergency rule.
The Contemporary Journalists Association (ÇGD) said this week that Turkey currently has 142 journalists under arrest. Several other journalists have also been detained.
A total of 195 media outlets have been shut down by the government since a July 15 coup attempt with around 2,500 media personnel left unemployed. (Turkey Purge)
