The deputy co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Aysel Tuğluk, was detained in Ankara on charges of alleged terrorism on Monday.

In a separate counterterrorism police operation in Diyarbakır, two more Kurdish politicians, deputy co-chairs of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Seydi Fırat and Edip Yaşar, were also taken into custody.

The operation reportedly targeted politicians who took part in the Democratic Society Congress (DTK).

Turkey has been undertaking a crackdown against the Kurdish political movement since Nov. 4 which has resulted in the arrest of 10 HDP deputies and several mayors from both the HDP and the DBP.
