Death toll in twin bombings in İstanbul rises to 45

The number of people who were killed in twin blasts in İstanbul on Dec. 10 rose to 45 when one of the injured died on Tuesday.

The latest victim of the tragedy is police officer Ufuk Bozgeyik. Bozgeyik’s death has brought the number of police officers who were killed in the attack to 37. Eight civilians also lost their lives in the bombings.

The explosions took place near Vodafone Arena in Beşiktaşand at Maçka Park following a match between the Beşiktaş and Bursaspor football teams.

The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK), an offshoot linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), claimed responsibility for the attacks on Dec. 11.
