Must read

A group of unidentified assailants on Saturday attacked the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) provincial branch building in the central province of Kayseri several hours after a car bomb attack that killed 13 soldiers and injured 56 others including civilians.

The assailants set the roof of the building on fire and also unfurled a flag with three crescent moons on the building. The flag is the symbol of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).

Hundreds of people gathered in front of the building, shouting “Martyrs won’t die, the motherland won’t be divided” slogans.

Police officers were trying to prevent attackers from storming the building.

The attack in Kayseri came a week after twin bomb attacks outside a football stadium in İstanbul that claimed the lives of 44 and injured 166.

The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK), an offshoot of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), on Sunday claimed responsibility for the twin bombings in İstanbul.

Following the twin explosions in İstanbul last week, police detained dozens of people in raids across the country targeting officials from the HDP over allegations of links to the PKK.

In the meantime, the HDP condemned both attacks in İstanbul and Kayseri.
