One of two terrorists who perpetrated twin terror attacks outside a football stadium in İstanbul on Saturday had dinner at a McDonald’s restaurant in Beşiktaş while waiting for the end of the match to carry out the attack, according to a story in the Habertürk daily on Thursday.

One of the attacks, which was carried out by means of a car filled with explosives, took place outside the Beşiktaş football team’s Vodafone Arena following a match between Beşiktaş and Bursaspor, while the second attack took place in the nearby Maçka Park where a suicide bomber blew himself up. A total of 44 people, mostly police officers, were killed, while more than 160 others were injured in the attacks.

Police examination of security cameras in the area revealed that the suicide bomber had dinner at the McDonald’s in Beşiktaş. Police have launched a detailed examination of the security cameras in the fast food restaurant.

Police teams are now trying to determine whether the suicide bomber walked to the area of the attack or went there with the bomb-laden vehicle.

The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK), an offshoot of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), on Sunday claimed responsibility for the deadly İstanbul attacks.
