[UPDATE] HDP deputy Hüda Kaya released after brief detention

Pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Hüda Kaya was released following a brief detention by the Turkish police on Thursday.

Kaya was detained during a demonstration at İstanbul University when police intervened in the protest.

She was taken to the İstanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan after her detention where she was subsequently released.

Last month, detention warrants were issued for 15 HDP deputies, and 10 of them including the party’ co-chairs were arrested.
