Pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputies Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar were not allowed by the Justice Ministry to visit their party’s jailed co-chairperson, Figen Yüksekdağ, in Kandıra Prison on Sunday.
The Justice Ministry turned down the deputies’ request to visit Yüksekdağ who, along with nine other deputies, was arrested last month on charges of refusing to testify over terrorism accusations. The party’s other co-chairperson, Selahattin Demirtaş, is among the arrestees.
Buldan and Sancar were unable to visit Yüksekdağ as well as another HDP deputy, Gülser Yıldırım, but they were allowed to visit HDP deputies İdris Baluken and Ferhat Öncü, who are all incarcerated in the same prison.
