EU expresses commitment to migration deal in response to Erdoğan’s threat

Must read

Following a threat made by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to open Turkish borders to allow refugees into Europe after the European Parliament voted in favor of freezing accession talks with Turkey, the EU Commission spokesperson said on Friday that the EU is fully committed to the migration agreement with Turkey.

EU Commission spokesperson Margaritis Schinas said the EU is one piece in the puzzle while expressing the need to look at the full picture.

Commenting on this statement, Turkey rapporteur and EP member Kati Piri wrote on her Twitter account that linking the deal on migration to Turkey’s accession talks was wrong from the very beginning.
