One hundred twenty-three illegal immigrants being held in a deportation center in the Kumkapı district of İstanbul escaped after the building was set on fire on Saturday.
According to DHA, illegal immigrants set the furniture on fire to protest their living conditions and escaped after breaking down the main door of the center. Police fired warning shots but couldn’t prevent the migrants from fleeing.
The Interior Ministry stated that 123 illegal immigrants escaped, and 20 of them were apprehended.
